About Hellertown Historical Society

The Hellertown Historical Society (HHS) is dedicated to preserving the history and heritage of Hellertown and its people. In 1984, the Society was granted a 99 year lease from the Borough of Hellertown to occupy, restore, and maintain a major portion of Hellertown’s historical 35 acre Heller-Wagner Grist Mill tract and its buildings. The Society has experienced a growth in the number of volunteers eager to support our organization and dedicated to the preservation of this incredible treasure trove of Hellertown history.  As Earl Hill, former President of HHS, has said,

“Volunteerism is the heart and soul of the Hellertown Historical Society. If you know anyone who has a few hours to spare and is looking for a creative outlet…please refer him or her to the Historical Society.”

The Society is always ready to welcome new members with a passion for the same interests. Members receive all newsletters and are invited to participate in Society meetings and special events. Please see our membership page here for details and application form.
- HHS Organization -

HHS receives no funding from local, state or federal taxes. All funds are strictly raised through fund-raising programs, events, membership dues and generous donations. These funds are used to restore, repair and maintain the various buildings, grounds and property within the Society’s responsibility. This includes restorations of the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill and the Pony Bridge, the erection of a new Barn, new roofs, updates to The Heller-Wagner Grist Mill and the Miller’s House and general maintenance throughout.
Donations to the Society may be sent to the Society Office at the address listed below. Please make checks payable to “Hellertown Historical Society”. The Hellertown Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are completely tax-deductible.
You decide what your money supports! The Society has many needs that require attention. If you wish your donation to be used for a specific purpose, please signify that wish by including a note or letter explaining your instructions. Your donation will then be allocated for the special services per your instruction and placed in a restricted account used for that purpose only. Below are a list of some of the special services:

- Exterior Repairs/Painting of the Historic Buildings
- Technology Resources (Computers/Software)
- Digital Projector for Education/Presentations
- Mannequins for Museum Displays
- Picnic Tables/Benches, Garden Benches
- Folding Tables
- Small Appliances
