Public Tours

Discover our rich history through engaging public tours of the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex each Saturday starting June 14, 2025, through October. One tour will be held on Saturdays at 10:00 AM.

Visitors will tour the colonial-era Wash House, the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Museum, and the Pole Barn, displaying 19th and 20th-century agricultural, woodworking, and blacksmith equipment and tools. The tour introduces visitors to Hellertown’s rich history, focusing on its colonial beginnings and the Heller family’s impacts on the settlement and growth of business life in the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

Tour tickets can be purchased in the Miller’s House gift shop prior to each tour or on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 5 to 17, and $12 for a family. Public tours are best pre-scheduled, though walk-ins are welcome.

Student Field Trips

Discover our rich history through interactive field trips designed by retired teachers along with Hellertown Historical Society volunteers. Our field trips, ideal for public, private, cyber, and home-schooled students, feature four hands-on lessons covering waterpower, milling technology, simple machines, and penmanship tools. Aligned with PA Academic standards and STEM principles, these lessons make learning informative and engaging.

Feedback from previous student field trips:
-the presentation, the interactive experiences, the museum, and the guy who said it would take 45 minutes to build the Grist Mill
-My favorite aspects of the field trip were that we got to hit seeds with a thresher. Also, I liked pouring water on the wheels
-Exploring the process of making flour from wheat
-I enjoyed looking and holding the historical objects
