Training Program Begins This Spring at the Historic Heller-Wagner Grist Mill
HELLERTOWN, PA | The Hellertown Historical Society (HHS) is looking for passionate volunteers to become tour guides and field trip docents for its 2025 visitor program. Volunteers will lead students and the public on guided tours and interactive field trips of 1761 Heller-Wagner Grist Mill Complex.
Participants will undergo a comprehensive six-week training program held in March and April 2025. The program will prepare volunteers to interpret the borough’s history and lead engaging tours through exhibits in the historic grist mill museum and other buildings. Training will be led by experienced members of the HHS Education Committee, many of whom are former educators.
“This is a unique opportunity to bring local history to life for students and visitors,” said Dennis Scholl, Education Committee Chair. “Our volunteers help preserve the stories of Hellertown while making lasting connections with the community.”
Training sessions will be held weekly at the grist mill. Participants will receive a detailed training manual and learn how to assist in collecting visitor information to support future marketing and fundraising efforts.
